Jordan Ripley (BHP ’12) named Mr. McCombs 2012

BHP’s very own Jordan Ripley (’12) was crowned Mr. McCombs 2012 at the annual Mr. McCombs Pageant, which took place February 10th in the Student Activity Center Auditorium.

Ripley, Mr. Honors Business Association, was one of ten contestants who participated in the swimwear, Q&A and talent portions of the competition. His stand-up comedy routine was one of the highlights of the competition as was Mr. Delta Sigma Pi’s, Jonathan Coneby, proposal to his girlfriend during an acoustic guitar performance. In addition, the event raised 4,150 cans of food and $750 for the Capital Area Food Bank.

Amy Tanksley: A BHP Grad With Big Success in Small Business

As a small business owner, BHP graduate Amy (Elson) Tanksley (’02) has put her McCombs education to the test. After moving to Nashville and working for a few years as an analyst for an insurance company, Tanksley found herself wondering if she should pursue an MBA or take a huge risk by starting a small business. She saw a need in the community for a high-end, upscale barbershop and jumped at the chance to provide those services. Now, Tanksley is preparing to open the third location of Uncle Classic Barbershop in Nashville. Nothing could have prepared her better for the real-life business environment than her BHP education, she says.
