Make-A-Mark Campaign Officially Kicks Off

On April 12th, businessman and philanthropist Red McCombs joined the BHP senior class in kicking off the 2011 BHP Make-A-Mark Scholarship Campaign. Make-A-Mark is a scholarship campaign in which graduating BHP seniors give back to the Program. Student giving is vital in helping the BHP raise funds to offer incoming students competitive scholarship packages. The Business Honors Program IS the students it recruits. HBA Named McCombs’ Most Improved Organization

Honors Business Association (HBA) has been named McCombs’ Most Improved Student Organization for 2010-2011! HBA serves as the official student organization for the Business Honors Program. Since 1980, HBA has provided academic, professional, social, and philanthropic opportunities for BHP students. HBA strives to build up the strong sense of community within the Business Honors Program and to enhance the college experience for all BHP students. In the past year, HBA has more than doubled its corporate sponsorships, seen a 125% increase in general meeting attendance, expanded programs with BHP faculty, and involved nearly 300 BHP students in some type of HBA event. Congratulations, HBA!

BHP Professor Named IROM Chair

Dean Thomas W. Gilligan has appointed BHP Professor Prabhudev Konana as Chair of the Department of Information, Risk, and Operations Management, effective September 1, 2011. Dr. Konana, who teaches MIS 301H,  is one of the Business Honors Program’s most distinguished faculty members. Konana is the William H. Seay Centennial Professor of Information Management and Distinguished Teaching Professor at the McCombs School of Business. He has won countless awards for his outstanding teaching and research, and his class is a favorite among BHP students. Congratulations, Dr. Konana, on this well deserved honor!
