UT named the 35th Best University in the World

UT was recently ranked the 35th Best University in the World by The Center for World-Class Universities of Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

Tying with Duke University for 35th place this year, UT moved up three spots from last year’s ranking of 38th place. The list ranks 500 universities worldwide based upon six criteria, including the number of alumni and staff winning Nobel Prize and Fields Medals, the number of articles published in journals of Nature and Science, and the per capita performance with respect to the size of the institution.

BHP alum Congressman Lloyd Doggett interviewed in the Statesman

This past weekend, BHP alumnus (class of 1967) Congressman Lloyd Doggett was interviewed in the Austin-American Statesman regarding his position on the current deficit debate .

Congressman Doggett (D-Austin) represents the 25th District of Texas and has been in office since 2005. Previously, Doggett served on the Texas State Senate, was a justice on the Texas Supreme Court, and served as an adjunct professor at the UT School of Law.

BHP Alum Kelly Merryman ranked in The Under 40 Hot List by HomeMedia Magazine

Kelly Merryman, BHP alumnus and the Vice President of Content Acquisition at Netflix, was included in The Under 40 Hot List in HomeMedia Magazine. The list includes forty rising stars in the home entertainment industry under the age of 40.

Merryman graduated from the BHP in 1998 and achieved a Master’s degree in business administration from Harvard Business School. She has been with Netflix for four years and is responsible for content licensing for Netflix’s international expansion.

McCombs BBA Ranks Sixth Nationally in 2012 U.S. News and World Report

In just one year, the McCombs School of Business undergraduate program has moved up from last year’s ranking of seventh place to tie for sixth place nationally in the 2012 U.S. News and World Report rankings of the best undergraduate programs in the United States.

Overall, UT Austin ranked 45th in the Best National Universities and tied for the 13th spot in the ranking for Top Public Schools.
