The McCombs Graduate Entrepreneurship Society’s Meeting of the Minds is a monthly meetup for UT graduate student entrepreneurs that features a presentation by a student-run business along with networking and collaboration opportunities. The next Meeting of the Minds is happening on Wednesday, January 31 from noon to 1 PM at Texas Venture Labs, RRH 1.354.

The TEX-E Prize is a multi-round startup competition for Texas students who are developing innovative technologies and business models to support the energy transition and address climate change. Three winners will receive a combined total of $50,000 in cash prizes to advance their ventures. All teams must include at least one actively enrolled student at a university in Texas. Applications are now open for the 2024 Rice Business Plan Competition, happening April 4-6th at Rice University in Houston, TX. If you own or work for a student-driven startup, pitch at this competition for a chance to win up to $1.5 million in cash and prizes. Read more about eligibility here, and apply by January 31, 2024.

The Kendra Scott Women’s Entrepreneurial Leadership Institute (KS WELI) will be hosting Resilience in Action: Problem Solving Through Adversity, a panel discussion with the founders of Hem Support Wear, YouUnited and STEM Muse, on Tuesday, January 23 at 7 PM at the Kendra Scott Center, 2301 Trinity Street. The Global Sustainability Leadership Institute is accepting applications for its fifth annual SEED (Sustainability Education and Enterprise Development) Challenge for sustainability-focused startups. GSLI will be holding an Info Session and AMA on January 30 if you want to learn more.

The 3rd Coast Venture Summit is a venture conference happening March 13-15th in New Orleans with the purpose of strengthening the Gulf South venture ecosystem by connecting the Gulf South’s top founders with nationwide visionary capital. Startups that are Seed to Series A doing business in Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and/or Florida with plans to raise follow-on capital are encouraged to apply.
