Congratulations to the 18 MPA students who received the 2021-2022 Holbrook Scholarship in Accounting! To help MPA students reduce their student loan debt, Terri Holbrook, Senior Lecturer at Texas McCombs, and her husband, Ed Blechschmidt, started the Holbrook Scholar Program in 2014. “I remember funding my own college education with grants and scholarships, always working a part-time job during school—it was hard!” Terri said. “To make a difference today in the lives of students that I know and teach, we started this scholarship program in 2014 and this is our eighth year.”

Francisca Guerrero“Being chosen as a Holbrook Scholar this year has meant that I have gotten to meet a diverse cohort of Holbrook Scholars who share my passion for tax accounting,” said recipient Francisca Guerrero, iMPA ’22. After Francisca graduates next fall, she plans on traveling for a semester, then joining EY full-time in international tax accounting.

Terri and Ed have committed $1 million to this scholarship over a ten-year period. Once a student applies, an independent committee of faculty and staff awards the scholarships. “These students are so impressive and so deserving,” Terri added. “We love our Holbrook Scholars and know they will be successful in their own professional lives, eventually giving back to others.”

Join us in celebrating all of our Holbrook Scholars! And thank you, Terri and Ed, for continuing to supporting these astounding students and the Master in Professional Accounting program!
