What: If you’ve ever wondered:

– How do I find and approach queer friendly employers?

– What are my options for name and pronouns on professional documents?

– How do I navigate my identity in an interview setting?

This workshop is for you! We’ll spend some time going over commonly asked questions around LGBTQIA+ job searching, professional documents and interviewing, and have plenty of time for open discussion and Q&A.

Acing your Job Interviews

When: Wednesday, October 27, 12:00 – 1:15 p.m.

What: Make a good impression during your interview to increase your chances of landing a job offer. This virtual workshop will review the types of interviews you may encounter on your job search and how to decode questions to identify what the interviewer is really asking. By the end of the workshop, you will have started preparing answers to common interview questions and practiced your interviewing skills.

What: Texas Career Engagement and Society for the Advancement of Gender Equity in STEM (formerly Association for Women in STEM) invite you to hear directly from aspirational women working in both industry and academy Bain & Co, NIH, Dompé, and UT on their diverse studies and career paths in science, technology, engineering and math. This virtual panel discussion with will offer insight to graduate student and postdoc women in STEM fields on getting in front of potential challenges related to gender. Topics include how to career plan, tips for the job market, ways to think about and prepare for family and work balance and finding mentorship.

Industry Virtual Drop-In Hours 

Are you interested in pursuing a career in a specific industry but are unsure of where to start? On the first Friday of each month from 1 to 3 pm you can come speak with a Career Education Specialist to ask questions, have application materials reviewed, develop search strategies, etc. Texas Career Engagement offers five distinct career communities specifically tailored and curated for students pursuing careers in industries not traditionally aligned with their majors or colleges.
