Here are some important tips to keep in mind before the event!

  • Upload an updated resume to your CareerEco profile. You will also have the option to add your LinkedIn, so make sure it’s been updated as well.
  • Create your profile. When creating your registration profile if you don’t find your exact major, select the closest match and type your specific major in the text box. 
  • Research the employers attending and their chat availability on 2/3, by logging into to the event landing page and registering.
  • Prepare yourself for individual and group text chats. Prepare introductions and tailored questions and be ready to copy and paste into a chat to maximize your time with employers. Read the existing chat when you enter a room, so that you aren’t asking a question that’s already been asked. Also, build off of questions that have already been asked in chat. Be knowledgeable about the roles that an employer is offering. The CareerEco platform has the option to video chat, but many employers may invite you for a video chat on an external platform (e.g., Teams, Zoom, Googlechat), so be prepared.
  • Prepare your physical space. As with any virtual recruiting event, please ensure your location/background is well-lit and free of distractions! We recommend you use headphones for optimal sound during the event.
  • Tech Tips: Use Google Chrome or Firefox for this event, and plan to use a desktop or laptop if you would like the option participate in video chat.
  • Follow-up & follow all job posting instructions. Send thank yous to employers you chat with, and apply to positions you’re interested in.
