The Bureau of Diplomatic Security (DS) is the security and law enforcement arm of the U.S. Department of State. It bears the core responsibility for providing a safe environment for the conduct of American diplomacy. DS is the most widely represented U.S. law enforcement and security organization in the world and protects people, property, and information at 275 State Department facilities around the globe. To achieve this mission, DS is a leader discovering and mitigating terrorist threats to American lives and facilities, mounting international investigations, and generating innovations in cyber security and physical security engineering. Special Agents manage a range of security programs on a worldwide basis. In addition to living and working overseas, this includes assignments at Diplomatic Security field offices in eight major U.S. cities as well as at 22 resident offices.

All U.S. Department of State careers and internships require U.S. citizenship. The U.S. Department of State is an equal opportunity employer.
