Prior to Rocket Dollar, Yoshida was the co-founder of Honest Dollar, a robo-advisor retirement platform that was acquired by Goldman Sachs, as well as a founder of MY Group LLC, a $2.5-billion assets under management investment firm. He is a NextGen Venture and Central Texas Angel Network Partner, as well as a Techstars and Capital Factory mentor. In addition, Yoshida is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ and a former Merrill Lynch Vice President. He was a two time finalist for PLANSPONSOR’s Retirement Plan Advisor of the Year and a 401(k) Leadership finalist for the American Society of Pension Professionals and Actuaries. Yoshida graduated from The University of Texas at Austin and holds an MBA from both the Johnson School of Management at Cornell University and Queen’s University in Canada. He resides in Austin with his wife and two daughters.

Class Note: Michael Laitkep, BBA ’17

Michael Laitkep, BBA ’17, is an Energy Research Analyst at Alerian, which equips investors to make informed decisions about energy infrastructure and Master Limited Partnerships (MLPs). Mr. Laitkep seeks to promote understanding of the Alerian Index Series and support broader understanding of the role that midstream assets play in North American energy markets.

In his recently published article, Mr. Laitkep writes how petrochemicals provide midstream opportunities downstream. Read the article here.

 

Class Note: Alejandra Rodriguez Boughton, MBA ’14

In 2014, Alejandra Rodriguez Boughton was living in Austin and homesick for her native Monterrey, Mexico. After earning her MBA from the University of Texas McCombs School of Business, she was lost. She didn’t want to return to her career in corporate banking, but she didn’t know what she wanted to do. Stressed, she started cooking in the kitchen of her South Austin apartment. “I wanted to do this mole that you find specifically in the markets of Oaxaca,” she says. But she needed the peppers of her childhood—specifically, chilhuacle pepper, which is “pretty much impossible to find outside of Oaxaca,” she says. She spent hours online searching for seed and started growing peppers in containers on her balcony. “One day it hit me in the shower: Maybe I could make a business out of this,” she says. Class Note: Lance Loeffler, BBA ’99, MBA ’04

Halliburton Co. has promoted Lance Loeffler to chief financial officer, the oil-field services company said Monday. Mr. Loeffler, who joined Halliburton in 2014 as vice president of corporate development overseeing mergers and acquisitions, would be Halliburton’s third CFO in less than two years. He replaces Christopher Weber, who joined Halliburton in June 2017 from Parker Drilling Co. and is leaving to pursue other opportunities, Halliburton said. Read more here. 

Class Note: Harrison Perl, MPA ’17

Harrison is a serial entrepreneur who has built three companies prior to starting work on C4Coin. He holds a Masters’ in Professional Accounting from the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin. His combination of startup experience and general business and financial training makes him an ideal leader for the C4Coin project. Read more here.

Andrew Vo

Andrew Vo, BBA ’95,  was promoted to Managing Director, Head of Human Resources Asia, Africa, Middle East, and Turkey at Accenture in Singapore.

He is responsible for talent strategy and leadership development for 294,000 professionals. He is a member Accenture’s Human Resources Executive Committee and AAPAC Management Committee.

In this role, Andrew combines his 22-year management consulting career, working alongside senior Fortune Global 500 clients, with his proven track record as a talent transformation champion to fuel Accenture’s differentiation as a growth and innovation market leader.

Prior to assuming his current role, Andrew served as Accenture’s lead for three energy and utilities clients where he 1) led the break-in at two accounts resulting in large multi-year programs and 2) directed the strategy, consulting, and digital expansion supporting a third client’s $1 billion business transformation. Andrew previously led an $80m commodity trading & risk management practice, as well as a $175m finance practice focused on finance process, real estate, tax, trading, and treasury solutions.

As a visible talent and I&D advocate, Andrew has led Accenture’s Consulting Development Program (CDP) for North America, as well as the Southwest region, responsible for the professional development of 2400+ analysts and senior analysts. Andrew has also served as the sponsor for MBA and undergraduate recruiting across 25 North America campuses, including the University of Texas at Austin where he’s recruited 500+ new joiners as Accenture’s senior executive lead.

In the community, Andrew is a Special Olympics and Red Cross volunteer. He serves on the McCombs School of Business Advisory Council and University of Texas Chancellors Council Executive Committee. Andrew is actively involved in the Forty Acres Scholars Program, UT Austin’s premier merit-based scholarship, as former president of the Texas Exes 1883 Council and Forty Acres Society.
