Class Note: Erin Mulligan Helgren, BBA ’91

As the CEO of a privately-held technology company and former Chief Marketing Officer for prominent organizations like Sunpower Corp. and Dell, Inc., Helgren’s insights will “enrich strategic discussions, particularly in the Entertainment business segment,” stated Colin Reed, Executive Chairman of the Board. With a B.B.A. from the University of Texas and over 11 years at Dell, Inc., including her tenure as CMO, Helgren’s appointment underscores Ryman Hospitality’s commitment to diverse and experienced leadership.

Class Note: Jonathan Smoke, MBA ’94

With 28 years of experience translating data trends into actionable insights for businesses, Smoke will lead an effort to develop and deploy insights and data to back the strategic planning and management at Cox. In this new role, he will advise leaders across the enterprise on economic impacts to consumer and business clients.

Class Note: Gay Gaddis Appointed to Governor’s Commission for Women

Texas Governor Greg Abbott has appointed T3 Founder, Author, Artist and trailblazer, Gay Gaddis to the Governor’s Commission for Women, alongside 14 others. Housed within the Office of the Governor, the Governor’s Commission for Women, is tasked with developing a strategy and implementation plan to make Texas the number one state for women-owned businesses, as well as addreBlonde woman smiles at camera.ssing human trafficking. The commission also works with First Lady Cecilia Abbot to support the foster and adoption outreach programs of the Heart Gallery.

After building T3, an innovative digital agency that Gaddis grew into the largest woman-owned independent advertising agency in the nation, Gaddis has served on numerous boards and is currently the Board of Directors President of Texas Exes, the University of Texas’ official alumni organization as well as an active speaker on women’s leadership and entrepreneurship. Gaddis also founded and co-teaches “Women Who Mean Business,” a women’s development program at the McCombs School of Business, and is the best-selling author of Cowgirl Power: How to Kick Ass in Business & Life.

Edna Wong, BBA and MPA ’12, has received KPMG’s national Award of Distinction, the firm’s most prestigious employee honor. KPMG US has 35,000 employees, and 24 individuals were selected as this year’s recipients. Read more here.

Class Note: Kelly Gupta, MBA ’15

Alex Gupta, MBA ’16 founded Break Point Energy to help companies buy clean energy tax credits. He previously worked as a renewable energy project investor at Bank of America.

Grant Sullivan, BBA ’05

Grant Sullivan, BBA ’05, was appointed as a judge to the Colorado Court of Appeals by Colorado Governor Jared Polis on November 9, 2023. He previously served as a litigation attorney with the Colorado Attorney General’s Office for more than 12 years.

Class Note: Matthew Chee, BBA ’99

Matthew Chee, BBA ’99, was appointed Senior Vice President of Growth at Charge Enterprises, Inc. With a rich background as Charge’s Vice President of Mergers and Acquisitions since 2020, Chee’s expanded role will leverage his two decades of industry experience to drive growth. In this position, he will oversee marketing and sales strategies, new business development, relationship and people management, internal sales, budget, and marketing reporting systems, along with his current M&A responsibilities.
