TransUnion has appointed Chris Cartwright, MPA ’88, as Chief Executive Officer for the company.
Cartwright currently leads TransUnion’s largest division, U.S. Information Services (USIS) as well as the Global Product Development organization. TransUnion is filing a current report on form 8-K with the Securities and Exchange Commission that includes additional information about the company’s ongoing arrangements with Peck and Cartwright. Stacy J. Smith has been promoted to Executive Chairman for Toshiba Memory Corporation.
Smith brings a long and proven track record of executive leadership to TMC. He has extensive international experience, having both lived and led organizations in the Asia-Pacific, Latin America, Europe, the Middle East and Africa. He will work closely with CEO Yasuo Naruke to provide overall leadership to the business.
“I am excited to take on this important challenge, and honored to join the TMC team,” said Smith. “Toshiba invented flash memory, and with TMC now operating as an independent company with increased capacity to invest in developing and growing semiconductor technology, the company has a strong growth trajectory ahead of it.” Read More.
Dean Jay Hartzell and the New York for McCombs (NYFM) Board gathered among other fellow alumni to welcome the Texas McCombs Class of 2018 graduates who recently moved to NYC. Recent graduates had to opportunity to broaden their network and connect with other Longhorns.

Emil Sayegh, CEO and President of Hostway, will be speaking about “multi” hybrid cloud environments at the company’s 10th annual Cloud Expo in New York City.
Emil Sayegh is an early pioneer of cloud computing and is recognized as one of the industry’s true veterans. A cloud visionary, he is credited with launching and leading the cloud computing and hosting businesses for HP, Rackspace, and Codero. Emil built the Rackspace cloud business while serving as the company’s GM of the Cloud Computing Division. Earlier at Rackspace he served as VP of the Product Group and launched the company’s private cloud and hosted exchange services. He later moved on to HP where he served as VP of Cloud Service and initiated the company’s public cloud services. In 2012, Emil joined Codero Hosting as Chairman, President, and CEO and led the next generation of cloud computing with the hybrid cloud. In 2015 he led the successful sale of Codero to a consortium of telecom companies. Since 2016, Emil has held the position of President and CEO at Hostway in Austin, Texas. Read more.
The San Antonio Chapter hosted their Alumni/Intern Summer Reception at Quarry Golf Course. The event brought together McCombs alumni, Texas LBJ alumni, and current students interning in San Antonio! The Atlanta Chapter hosted their Alumni/Intern Summer Reception at Chido & Padre’s. The event was the perfect time for McCombs alumni and current students to mix and mingle. Alumni had the opportunity to catch up with classmates and talk to students interning in the Atlanta area for the summer.
The Dallas Chapter hosted their Alumni/Intern Summer Reception at Del Frisco’s. Alumni and current students interning in the Dallas area gathered to mix and mingle. The event was a great opportunity for students to meet business professionals in Dallas and broaden their network!
The London Chapter hosted their Alumni/Intern Summer Reception at Rabobank International UK. McCombs alumni and current students interning in London had the opportunity to mix and mingle at this event. They also listened to Jane Foley, Head of FX Strategy, as she spoke about “Monetary Policy, Populism, and the Generational Gap.” This was a great event for both students and alumni to broaden their network!
More than 100 alumni gathered at the Penn Club in New York City to meet the new Executive Director of the Texas Exes, Chuck Harris (BBA ’86) and hear university updates from President Gregory Fenves. In addition to connecting with one another, alumni also learned about membership opportunities at the Penn Club that included a tour of the facilities. See the photo gallery.
For the first time, UT alumni can now become affiliate members of the Penn Club.
