Alumni and Current Students Network in the Bay Area

The San Francisco Chapter and the Bay Area for McCombs Board hosted an alumni reception at SOMA Eats. The event brought together McCombs alumni, board members, and current Texas MBA students in town for a career trek. The reception was a great opportunity for students to visit with alumni about living and working in the Bay Area.

Alumni Reconnect at the Monthly Austin Chapter Breakfast

Local McCombs alumni kicked off the New Year at their monthly breakfast meeting at Stinson’s Bistro. The breakfast had record attendance and alumni had a wonderful time reconnecting. Graduates enjoyed coffee and breakfast while mingling and learning of upcoming speakers and chapter programming.

Class Note: Erin Mulligan Nelson, BBA ’91

Erin Mulligan Nelson, BBA ’91 and CEO for CSDC Systems, recently spoke at McCombs “2019 Economic Forecast” about her company’s strive to push the government technology revolution forward. Class Note: Jenny Jacobi, MBA ’18

Jenny Jacobi, MBA ’18 and senior director of content for Alamo Drafthouse Cinemas, is one of five Austinites named as a director of the Texas Lyceum, a statewide nonprofit organization that cultivates next-generation leaders. The association focuses on Texas public policy challenges and engages its members in a range of invaluable conferences designated to initiate vigorous and respectful debate. Read more here.

 

Class Note: Jessica Harper, BBA ’14

Jessica Harper, BBA ’14, does not stop her success at academia. She is the defending 3M Half Marathon women’s champion and she earned All-Big 12 honors in the mile when she ran for Texas. Read more about her running career and successes here.

 

 

 

Class Note: Michael Laitkep, BBA ’17

Michael Laitkep, BBA ’17, is an Energy Research Analyst at Alerian, which equips investors to make informed decisions about energy infrastructure and Master Limited Partnerships (MLPs). Mr. Laitkep seeks to promote understanding of the Alerian Index Series and support broader understanding of the role that midstream assets play in North American energy markets.

In his recently published article, Mr. Laitkep writes how petrochemicals provide midstream opportunities downstream. Read the article here.

 

Class Note: Michael Stewart, MBA ’04

Before joining Saline Health System as CEO on Nov. 30, Michael Stewart, MBA ’04, was the CEO of Navarro Regional Hospital in Corsicana, Texas, a position he had held since 2014. Before that job, he spent two years as the COO and administrator of Northwest Health System in Springdale.

Class Note: Kevin Johnson, MBA ’14

Kevin Johnson, MBA ’14, has been promoted to Principal for The CapStreet Group.

Mr. Johnson interned for CapStreet during the summer of 2013 and joined CapStreet full time in upon his completion of the MBA program. Prior to obtaining his MBA, Mr. Johnson worked for two years at Morgan Stanley in Chicago and two years with Brentwood Associates in Los Angeles. Read more here.
