Summer Celebration in the Emerald City

The Seattle Chapter welcomed new graduates, interns, and Alison Fiorenza from the Texas McCombs Alumni team to their summer celebration at Queen Anne Beer Hall. The longhorns filled the restaurant as they networked and shared stories about the ins-and-outs of working in the Emerald City.

We would like to thank our chapter leaders Beth Hood, MBA ‘18, and Eric Strow, MBA ‘16, for helping put it all together!

Class Note: Eduardo Marcos, MBA ‘01

Eduardo Marcos, MBA alumnus, was featured as one of Diversity MBA’s 2018 Top 100 Under 50 Emerging Leaders! Eduardo is Managing Director of Advantage Partner Marketing and President of AA Vaccinations American Airlines Group. Learn more about Eduardo here.

Class Note: Johnny Baker, MBA ‘15

Jonny Baker, MBA ’15, was awarded the Gold Award for the highest exam score on the Certified in Strategy and Competitive Analysis (CSCA) exam during the March 2019 testing window. The CSCA credential provides solid grounding in the specific discipline of strategic planning. Jonny is Senior Manager in KHA Accountants, PLLC’s Strategic Management Consulting Services group in Flower Mound, TX.

Class Note: Park Pu, MBA ‘97

Park Pu, MBA alumnus, has been named Head of Investment Banking at JPMorgan’s China brokerage unit. Park joined JPMorgan in 2015 as vice chairman of investment banking and has played an instrumental role in the formation of the bank’s brokerage unit in China. Learn more about Park here.

With a BBA and MBA in marketing from UT, Nina specializes in growing companies and brands that she believes in, handpicked because they offer something special to the world. You can find her on any given day working with corporate clients, recording artists, and entrepreneurs as well as HR teams in the emerging field of employment branding. She has a passion for working with innovative companies and entrepreneurs transforming the way we work and live through technology, social networks, thought leadership, and the arts.

Class Note: Karen Starns BBA ’89

Karen Starns recently became the Chief Marketing Officer at OJO Labs. Previously she was the CMO for Brand and Customer Experience at Amazon and before that the Head of Marketing for Pearson’s 1500 marketers worldwide. Karen has a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing degree from the McCombs School and serves on the school’s advisory council for the Master of Science in Marketing program.

Class Note: Rocky Dewbre MBA ’94

Rocky Dewbre, MBA ‘94 was named an independent director on the board of directors of Core-Mark Holdings Corp (NASDAQ:CORE). He previously served as an independent director of CST Brands (NYSE:CST) and as CEO of Susser Petroleum Partners, LP (NYSE:SUSP).

Class Note: Alexa Bradford, MBA ’83

Upon finishing the MBA program at UT in 1983, Alexa Bradford started a 30+ year career in commercial banking. After retiring from Bank of America in 2017, Alexa created her new podcast: “Jubilation: From Work Life to the Rest of Your Life.” The podcast is a journey of discovery and a labor of love. It features engaging interviews with retirees from all walks of life, who talk about transitioning from decades of focus on work and career, to the new landscape of retirement. The Highline in River North was the perfect restaurant for the Chicago Chapter’s Summer Celebration! Robin Vallilee from the Texas alumni team joined the McCombs community as they had fun bonding over drinks and appetizers. See more photos from the event here!
