McCombs welcomed more than 600 alumni to its 2024 Homecoming Weekend September 27 through 28, with a Saturday tailgate kicking off UT’s first Southeastern Conference game against Mississippi.

The weekend consisted of a business conference led by Dean Lillian Mills and featuring notables like Sandy Leeds, professor of instruction with the Department of Finance at McCombs; Jon Brumley, Founder, President and CEO of Bounty Minerals, LP; Rex Du, professor with the Department of Marketing at McCombs; and a keynote interview with Dean Mills and Blake Poutra, managing partner at Big Enrichment.

A reception followed the conference, highlighting class reunions for 1979, 1984, 1989, 1994, 1999, 2004, 2009, 2014, and 2019 cohorts.

The following day, a large crowd gathered at the Tejas Room and Patio in the AT&T Hotel and Conference Room for barbecue, drinks, and family friendly activities during the annual football tailgate. This year’s excitement was palpable ahead of the first SEC conference game, which the Longhorns handily won against Mississippi.

“This event is always a fantastic time, but this year, you can just feel an electricity in the air,” said Christine Burdell, Director of Alumni Relations. “We love to see our alumni come together to reconnect and cheer on their alma mater.”

After the tailgate, those who were able to secure a seat in the Homecoming football block attended the game as a group and saw the win first-hand.

“It’s a great time to be a Longhorn,” said one alumnus.

Plans for next year’s homecoming events are already underway, and a date will be announced soon. In the meantime, we invite you to view the photos of this year’s exciting event here.
