TVL Alumni Spotlight: Snarr3D

We are highlighting Snarr3D as our Alumni Spotlight of the month! We spoke with co-founders (and brothers!) Patrick and Scott Snarr to hear more about their experience at McCombs and TVL, and the story of Snarr3D

What is Snarr3D?

Snarr3D offers high-performance golf putters with aesthetic features made possible through 3D printing. In manipulating the weight distribution of the golf putter shaft, Snarr3D aims to enhance accuracy and performance to give golfers the equipment suited to their individual game.

What are some of the most important takeaways you gained from your time with TVL, and how have you applied them to your personal and professional life?

Patrick: Scott and I are both trained mechanical engineers that had little to no business acumen when we started our journey with Snarr3D. TVL, and UT in general, provided us with a community of mentors and peers to learn from along with the necessary resources to begin making smart business decisions and to build out a successful business strategy.

What program(s) were you involved in with TVL, and what was your favorite part about it/them?

Patrick & Scott: We first became part of the TVL family after winning the Spring 2022 TVL Investment Competition (TVLIC). This opportunity led us to becoming the TVL Company-in-Residence through the rest of 2022. We were then invited back to the Fall 2022 TVLIC to do a fireside chat where we spoke with previous TVL Program Manager, Ian Bidot, on updates on our business. The best part of joining the TVL family was and is the many great people and minds that we have met that have a genuine interest in seeing us succeed and helping us at every point along our journey.

How did you network with other entrepreneurs and investors through TVL, and how has it led to new opportunities for you?

Patrick & Scott: There are so many other startups in the TVL ecosystem which made it very easy to network and form relationships with other students and founders on the same journey. Being able to talk through the startup process with colleagues was, and still is, extremely valuable. We have learned a lot about fundraising, go to market strategies, and other business challenges we have faced from the many relationships formed through TVL.

What inspired you to get interested in the entrepreneurship and startup world?

Patrick & Scott: As much as we enjoy the additive manufacturing (3D printing) research that we do as mechanical engineers, we would always rather be at the golf course. When we had a great idea that could allow us to “work from the course,” we knew it was something we should chase. A startup can be long hours and draining, but having it be something we enjoy and are passionate about makes the grind much more manageable!

What is your favorite place to grab tacos in Austin?

Patrick & Scott: Taco Joint.
