Consulting Skills: Practicing the Case Interview

Join fellow interested advanced degree students to practice a case interview. Come away with specific feedback on your case interview skills and a potential practice partner! Attendees will have access to an extended registration deadline of February 10th for the Texas Case Competition for Advanced Degrees.

 

Writing a Compelling Resume

During this interactive session, participants will practice using an accomplishment statement framework to write experience section bullet points for their resume. Prior to the session, participants will be provided with a slide deck and videos to learn resume writing fundamentals, what are accomplishment statements and why they are effective, and review examples of accomplishment statements for different skills and disciplines. This session will provide a casual, low stakes environment with fellow graduate students to ask more specific questions about resume writing and practice writing bullet points in an accomplishment statement format.

 

Communicating Fit with the Cover Letter

During this interactive session, participants will practice analyzing a job description and persuasively communicating their fit with the job through the cover letter thesis statement and 1-2 detailed examples. Prior to the session, participants will be provided with a slide deck and videos to learn cover letter fundamentals, how to analyze a job description to identify key desired qualifications, and tailoring the cover letter to the job description through a thesis statement and 1-2 detailed examples. This session will provide a casual, low stakes environment with fellow graduate students to ask more specific questions about cover letter writing and practice tailoring a cover letter to a job description.
