Marathon Oil Full-time Entry Level Accounting and Finance

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
•Required Major: Accounting
•Education Level: Baccalaureate or higher degree. Must have sufficient hours to be eligible to sit for the CPA upon graduation.
•Entry level positions are in Houston, Texas. Travel may be necessary to US and international locations.
•Authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. on a full-time, indefinite basis without need for sponsorship now or in the future
•Students must maintain at least a 3.0 in Accounting and in the overall GPA.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Job responsibilities are dependent upon the department assigned. Departments include Corporate Accounting, Financial Reporting, North America Production Operations Accounting, International Accounting, Accounting Services, Tax, Treasury, Central
Evaluation Team and Internal Audit.
•Entry level positions perform some transactional accounting work and reconcilements, but also provide an opportunity to demonstrate analysis and presentation skills. Generation and analysis of reports is an important component of these positions.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
As an entry-level accountant, you will receive on-the-job training related to the dynamics of the oil industry, the specifics of your job assignment, and the use of various software programs, especially SAP which is the ERP used throughout the Company. You will be given the opportunity to work with a variety of disciplines outside of the accounting organization and develop a collaborative relationship with those disciplines.
As you progress in your career, additional responsibilities will be added. Creative thought in enhancing existing accounting processes or in the development of new processes to enhance efficiency is encouraged. Also, as you progress, you will be given opportunities to work with and mentor less experienced accountants and be provided the opportunity to demonstrate leadership capabilities.
The Finance and Accounting Organization is committed to developing accountants by providing them experience in as many areas of the business as practical. Accountants that have demonstrated exceptional proficiency will be eligible for opportunities within other areas of the Company where the analytical skills developed while in the Finance and Accounting Organization can be put to good use in operational components of the business such as: Worldwide Production, Worldwide Exploration, Major Projects, Business Development, and Global Procurement.
