We currently have a career opportunity for a Staff professional in our State & Local Tax – Indirect Employment Tax practice. This practice provides the following services to clients: planning and compliance for mergers; acquisitions and internal reorganizations; audit defense for withholding and unemployment audits; employment tax consulting (one-off questions); and unemployment claims administration.
Responsibilities

  • Contribute to client satisfaction by providing timely and effective responses to client needs and concerns.
  • Develop and deliver quality and timely services and work products.
  • Research complex tax issues and develop practical and effective tax approaches.
  • Participate in client meetings and work within a team environment to deliver integrated services to clients.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of basic tax concepts and actively pursue increased tax knowledge through client assignments and current tax developments.

To qualify, candidates must have:

  • a bachelor’s degree with a concentration in accounting, finance, economics or other related fields (an advanced degree in tax or law is highly desirable)
  • strong analytical skills as well as excellent written/verbal communication skills
  • demonstrated leadership skills and excellent interpersonal abilities
  • an interest in learning in a fast paced, teaming work environment
  • PC proficiency including excellent Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills; Microsoft Access skills a plus

This position may require extensive travel requirements during some months. It will also require travel to Northeast Area EY offices (New Jersey, Massachusetts, Connecticut) periodically.
