Brazen Student Guide
This is a general guide to using Brazen for McCombs virtual career events. Please be sure to follow specific event instructions that are sent out for specific events.
Getting started with Brazen
- Create a Brazen Account

- Consider having a back up device (tablet or phone) if your primary device experiences issues during the event
- Good to know about Brazen
Before Each Event
- Google Chrome is Brazen’s preferred browser because it updates automatically.

- Have a backup browser ready to go and make sure you are running the most up to date version.

- Register in advance so we have an accurate count of attendees and saves you time and stress the day of the event.
- Event attendance is limited, please do not register for this event if you may not be able to attend as this will take away space for other students.

- Review employers attending the event
- Do your research on companies in advance
- Use CMCR resources to prepare for roles in specific industries
- Review your resume and LinkedIn,
- Make sure your resume has been updated for the employers you plan to speak with
- Use VMock and Aspire for formatting changes and feedback before the event
- Prepare your elevator pitch, save where you can easily copy and paste into Brazen as your Greeting

Event Participation- General:
- Prepare your chat space, virtual backgrounds are not supported in Brazen
- Close all other apps
- You should not have other streaming services connected (music, other video apps, minimal, if any, other tabs open) to reserve your internet bandwidth and computer capabilities for this event.
- Review the Event Lobby for booths you would like to chat with (or are assigned to depending on the event)
- Make sure your chat status is set to available in the top left corner
- Click on a booth to enter or use “Search” on the left side navigation menu from the lobby to see a list of companies
- You can use this feature to quickly access multiple lines
- There is no limit on the number of lines you can wait in
- If you are in a chat with a rep when you reach the front of the queue with another company, don’t rush. Your spot in line will be held until your conversation is complete and you will automatically be invited to the next conversation when the first is finished.
- Click chat to start chatting or enter the queue. Students are only able to request a chat, reps will initiate the actual chat when they are available.
- Recruiter may chat with you on text, audio or video when you are at the front of the queue
- You will see a notification and hear a ding when you have been invited to a chat. Answer requests for chats quickly because you can lose your place in line if you miss the invitation.
- If you need to step away, change your status to away so you do not miss any chat invitations.
- If you enter the queue, you can go to another booth to speak with other companies while you wait
- If a booth has multiple reps, you will not be able to choose a rep to talk to because you are automatically assigned to the rep who is available next. You can drop a note in the booth if you would like to reach out to a specific rep.
- Chat Greetings
- When you have been invited to chat there will be a Greeting box. Use this space to create an auto response to start off your conversations with a rep. Paste your elevator pitch here to jump start conversations with recruiters.
- End chat
- Rate the conversation with the company rep (not the technical quality of the call)
- Take takes for yourself (no shared with the rep)

- Chat history will be available for six months after the event when you click on “History” on the left side navigation menu.
Troubleshooting and Brazen Support
- For technical issues please email support@brazen.com as soon as possible, screenshots are helpful. During events, response times are usually within a few minutes.
- Some events will have a help booth set up for troubleshooting issues. Visit this booth to speak with event staff about issues you are experiencing after emailing support. Event staff are not able to resolve all issues.
