MPA Council Present: Urton Anderson – Esteemed MPA Council Speaker

The MPA Council is delighted to host Mr. Anderson. Mr. Anderson is currently the Academic Accounting Fellow for the SEC. This means that he serves as the primary advisor to the SEC on accounting and auditing and acts as a research resource to the SEC staff. He will discuss the insight he has gained about the workings of the SEC, the role of auditing in the regulatory process, and areas where research can improve auditing practice.
Mr. Anderson is also the Former Department Chair of Accounting at McCombs. His research has addressed a number of topics in external and internal auditing, including auditor judgment, corporate governance, compliance, enterprise risk management, and internal control. He has twice served as the Chair of the Internal Auditing Standards Board. He received the Bradford Cadmus Memorial Award in 2006 for his contributions to the internal auditing profession.
