The Teacher Retirement System is responsible for managing the pension trust fund for all public school employees in Texas.  TRS is a defined benefit plan, with a market value of approximately $106 billion.

TRS is currently seeking an individual to assist the Investment Trading Team with the following:

  • preparation and review of pre- and post trade analysis reports across asset classes and products
  • preparation and review of periodic management reports and presentations
  • assist Traders with ad hoc projects
  • perform quality control checks to confirm accuracy of potential trade list by reconciling the trade blotter to trade source documents
  • monitor ongoing trades by taking and relaying phone messages from broker/dealers

Qualifications/Basic Requirements include:

Minimum qualifications

  • 4th or 5th year MPA, or MBA student or 4th year BBA student
  • Strong quantitative and analystical skills
  • Proficient in Excel and Powerpoint
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • General knowledge of financial markets
  • Ability to work in a fast paced team environment with rapidly changing priorities

Preferred qualifications

  • General knowledge of Visual Basic and Microsoft Access
  • Experience using the Bloomberg system

Compensation

  • Hourly rate $25 per hour
  • Average 20-30 hours per week
