Description: The International Finance Corporation(IFC),
the private sector arm of the World Bank Group, is a global
investor and advisor committed to promoting projects in its
developing member countries that are economically beneficial,
financially and commercially sound, and environmentally and
socially sustainable. IFC finances private sector investments,
mobilizes capital in the international financial markets, helps
clients improve social and environmental sustainability, and
provides technical assistance and advice to governments and
business in the developing world.
IFC is currently looking for several interns to be based in
Paris, France, to support its activities in Western Europe.
IFC seeks candidate with interest in (1) investments in the
agribusiness sector both through direct investments in the
sector and through financial and non-financial intermediaries
in developing countries; (2) investments in the financial
sector (banking, insurance, private equity firms and distressed
debt); and (3) private sector development in emerging markets.
Each intern may work across the different activities mentioned
above.
She/he will work closely with IFC’s Investment Officers, who
are responsible for the design, negotiation and structuring
of the Corporation’s investment projects. She/he will help
identify new business opportunities through industry, market
and regulatory research and support Investment Officers as
needed.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct industry, market and regulatory research and assist
in IFC’s business development efforts; - Analyze and review company information(historical and projected
financial statements); - Prepare reports on financial statements and other information
(such as company management, ownership, etc.); - Possibly assist in portfolio valuation models for fund
investments; - Assist with valuation models, e.g. developing pricing models
for distressed debt valuation; - Prepare client documentation;
- Prepare documentation for IFC internal processes; and
- Prepare marketing documents and support client meetings.
Selecting Criteria:
- Final-year students pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree
with specialization in Finance, Business Administration or
Economics; - Strong analytical and problem solving skills and sound business
judgment to identify issues and present creative and practical
solutions; - Facility to work successfully in multicultural teams and
across boundaries; - Strong client service orientation with an openness to feedback
and new ideas; - Proven Excel and PowerPoint skills;
- Excellent presentation skills; and
- Fluency in English. Additional European language skills are
of advantage.
Duration:
This is an up to 6-month remunerated internship starting in September 2011.
