Nucleate Austin is officially launching its first year of the Activator Program in Austin! Their equity-free Activator program is an educational entrepreneurship course designed primarily for PhDs, Masters students, or postdocs tackling the biggest challenges in human health (Bio Track) and sustainability (Eco Track). Over three years, the Activator has formed and supported 107 startup teams who have raised $180M in funding to develop technologies like protein sequencing (Glyphic), drug design (Manifold Bio), and microbial fertilizer (Ivu Biologics). Applications are now open for the TEX-E Bootcamp for Climatetech Entrepreneurship happening September 22-24 at Greentown Houston. TVLIC alumni company STEM Muse has partnered with the Society for Advancing Gender Equity in STEM at the University of Texas at Austin (SAGES) to create a mentorship program that serves women and people with underrepresented genders in STEM fields. The program is currently accepting mentors and mentees for its next cohort. The deadline for mentors to sign-up is August 28, and the deadline for Mentees to sign-up is September 1. Fall 2021 Accelerator company Blended Sense raised a $2.5 million seed round. The investment came from former NFL player Terrence Murphy who has joined their team as an advisor.
