Graduating MPAs:

If you would like to be one of two MPA student speakers at the MPA Commencement ceremony (Friday, May 22 at 3:00 p.m.) or would like to nominate a peer, please provide the following information to the MPA Program office at MPAEvents by Thursday, April 16:

  1. Who would you like to nominate?
  2. Why do you feel this person would make a good speaker?
  3. Provide a one paragraph summary of the focus of his/her speech.

The speech is generally no more than 10 minutes long.  The Commencement order of events typically includes opening remarks, the ceremonial address, and student awards, followed by the two MPA student speakers.  Then graduates’ names are read as the students walk across the stage and the Chair gives her closing remarks.

The MPA Program Office will review student speaker nominations, and nominees will be notified of our decision (whether or not they were selected) approximately a week later.

Before nominating a peer, please check to make sure he/she would be agreeable and that he/she plans to attend Commencement.
