TEST SCORE EXCEPTIONS & PETITION FORM
Added April 15, 2020; Updated August 5, 2020

We understand that many people are experiencing hardships due to the COVID-19 pandemic and that these challenges may be affecting your application plans and ability to take an exam due to testing center closures. Due to the unprecedented circumstances, we are providing applicants who have been directly impacted by COVID-19, the opportunity to petition for a special test score exception.

If you are still able to take an exam, we strongly encourage you to do so. GMAC and ETS have introduced remote testing options for the GMATGREEA, and TOEFL exams for candidates impacted by coronavirus.

Criteria for Requesting a COVID-19 Test Exception:

  • You are unable to take an exam at home due to technology or other test-taking requirements (device availability or compatibility, internet connection, testing environment)
  • You or a family member have been diagnosed with or directly affected by COVID-19 (personally or professionally)
  • Virtual testing is not available in your current country of residence

If you are unable to take the GMAT, GRE, EA, TOEFL, or IELTS exam for one of these reasons and would like to request a test score exception, please submit this petition form for consideration. This form is independent of your application and may be submitted even if you have not started an application yet. Submission of this form does not guarantee that you will be granted a test exception by the admissions committee. After submitting this form, the admissions committee will review your request and will get back to you within five business days. If granted an exception, you will not be required to submit a test score for your application to be considered complete.

🚩 This petition currently applies ONLY to the following programs and application cycles:

  • Evening MBA – Round 4 final deadline of October 27, 2020 for January 2021 enrollment

The COVID-19 test exception is NOT available to applicants who have already sent official GMAT, GRE, EA, TOEFL, or IELTS scores to Texas McCombs. Once an official score has been sent to Texas McCombs, it becomes a part of your submitted application record and cannot be removed.

Please note that all admissions and scholarship decisions are based on a longstanding holistic review process that takes into account your entire application and serves to assess the overall strength of your candidacy, including readiness for academic rigor, career goals, leadership potential, and fit with our program culture. The GMAT, GRE, or EA score, among other application components, is used as a predictor of academic success in the MBA classroom. We encourage you to self-evaluate your application strengths and areas that could be considered weaknesses by the admissions committee, and find ways to put forward your strongest application, regardless of whether or not you are granted a test score exception.

REMOTE TESTING OPTIONS
Updated July 23, 2020

If you are able to take an exam, we strongly encourage you to do so. GMAC and ETS have introduced remote testing options for the GMAT, GRE, EA, and TOEFL exams for candidates impacted by coronavirus.

As of July 23, 2020, Over 80% of the global test center network supporting our exams is now open, including 8 test centers in China, with the planned opening of one of our test centers in Beijing in early August.

GMAT™

Exam appointment dates are available beginning April 20, 2020 and extend through December 31, 2020. To increase flexibility, appointment times are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The GMAT™ Online exam is available in most locations, with the exception of: Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Sudan and Slovenia due to regulatory and local data privacy rules. Read more about the GMAT Online exam on the GMAC website.

GRE®
