TRANSCRIPTS AND TEST SCORES
I submitted my application but received an email to complete other items. What are the next steps?
The most important next step to complete your application file is to pay the application fee. Your application fee invoice will be available 1-2 business days after application submission.
After application fee payment, you will monitor and use UT’s Graduate and International Admissions Center (GIAC) MyStatus page to upload copies of official transcripts (and other documents) and confirm receipt of official test scores. GIAC is responsible for verifying the validity of your test scores, transcripts, and degrees.
My transcripts were uploaded to the MyStatus page and I sent my scores to UT-Austin, but outstanding items have not updated on the page. Help!
This is the most common question we get asked. As your application components – including official scores and GIAC transcript uploads – are processed, your My Status page will update as those items are verified. It does take 3-4 weeks for the verification of official transcripts and test scores to be completed.
I completed all the steps (application fee, GIAC transcript upload, etc.) after I submitted, but there’s still a discrepancy between my application checklist and the My Status page. Is there anything I need to do to resolve it?
It takes up to 3 business days for the application checklist and MyStaus page to synch.
How long does it take for a test score to be processed?
Once a test score is received, it can take up to 4 weeks for it to be processed.
Are transcripts still considered “official” if we receive them from our schools, open them, and upload the scanned copies ourselves?
Official transcripts that are opened are valid for the upload process for your McCombs application and GIAC. You will need to retain the official hardcopy of your transcript, since it will be needed at a later stage, if you join us at Texas McCombs.
I’ve requested an official transcript from my university, but it’s still closed. What should I do?
For those experiencing unexpected delays securing official transcripts, we recommend contacting GIAC for guidance.
UPDATES TO THE APPLICATION
I’m scheduled to retake my exam. What’s the deadline to submit my score?
You’ll want to keep in mind that an official score does take time to process as noted earlier, so the sooner the better. You can update a test score through the “Submit an Update” feature within the McCombs application portal as soon as possible. While we do accept score updates, we cannot guarantee that it will be reviewed by the Admissions Committee. We recommend only submitting your application once you are satisfied with your test score.
How can I submit notable work updates to my application?
Similar to test score updates, we welcome the opportunity to learn about changes at work, which could be a promotion, new job, or a new project. You can “Submit an Update” in the application portal to update your resume. Please keep in mind that we cannot guarantee that your update will reach the Admissions Committee in time for it to be included during your application review.
INTERVIEWS AND EVENTS
What advice do you have for the interview? What does the interviewer know about me?
The interview will focus on understanding your leadership, teamwork, why MBA, and why Texas McCombs in a conversational, virtual interview setting. Your interviewer could be a member of the Admissions team, an alum, or a current student. They’ll only have your resume (and our interview questions) to guide them through the interview. The rest is up to you. And don’t forget to come to ask us a question or two.
I’ve attended events and connected with student ambassadors. Do you advise that I keep doing that?
As you move through your MBA application process, you will have new types of questions. We do encourage applicants to continue attending events and connecting with student ambassadors to learn more.
If you have any questions that are not listed here, please email TexasMBA@mccombs.utexas.edu.
