Attend a FAFSA Session & Learn About Applying for Aid

The time has once again arrived to begin applying for financial aid for the upcoming 2010-2011 school year! The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is the only application needed at The University of Texas at Austin to apply for grants, work-study, and student loans. The Office of Student Financial Services (OSFS) will be hosting sessions in order to assist current students to complete the online FAFSA. We anticipate these sessions will encourage you to apply early and increase their understanding of the financial aid process. Each session will take place in a computer lab setting, where you will be assisted by financial aid counselors on a walk-in basis.

The FAFSA requires income information for both student and parent(s), and thus 2009 tax returns are recommended when completing the application. If the 2009 taxes are not available, you can submit the FAFSA using estimates, and thus bring 2009 W-2’s or 2008 tax returns.

UT-Austin’s priority deadline is March 31st, 2010. NOTE: If you are a Top 10% scholarship recipient, you will need to submit the FAFSA by March 1st, 2010. For additional information see the spotlight at http://finaid.utexas.edu/spotlights/FAFSA100_sessions.html.
