2010 McCombs Executive Summit Discussion Panel

Contact: Bhargav.Srinivasan@bba08.mccombs.utexas.edu

Date: February 13th, 10am-2pm

Description: The 2010 McCombs Executive Summit aims to bring together our nation’s top business students with the world’s most influential corporate and governmental leaders to discuss issues presently relevant to our nation’s choices and the summit’s theme this year: government’s role in business. We will seek to educate students by hosting three breakout sections through which we will examine the normative relationship between government and business in energy, healthcare and finance.

This year’s summit will bring together attending corporate executives and government officials to speak on a discussion panel, and participate in energizing breakout sessions with students, all centered around what government’s role in these industries ought to be. We are inviting opinions from all ends of the spectrum. Students will have the opportunity to directly interact with top business and governmental leaders at a catered lunch for all participants.

Apply at http://www.texasbusinesscouncil.com in order to be selected to attend. Only 100 spots available. APPLY BY MIDNIGHT ON WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 7TH.

Peer Academic Coaching from the UT Learning Center

Consider checking into the Peer Academic Coaching program through the UT Learning Center. The program is open to anyone interested in receiving coaching from a trained UT student on how to prepare effectively for UT classes.  Peer coaches are trained by learning specialists, and the program as a whole is certified by the College Reading and Learning Association.

Common topics include: note-taking and reading techniques, time management and concentration, and test taking and test preparation.  Participants can expect to learn how to match the ways in which they study to the unique demands of each course.

The cost is covered by the UT Learning Center; potential participants should be open to trying new study techniques and be willing to meet privately once a week for an hour with a peer coach. Participants are admitted to the program on a rolling basis, subject to coach availability.

Students new to the university should visit the UT Learning Center in Jester A332A; all other students can complete a participation request questionnaire online by going to hhttp://enroll.utlc.utexas.edu/ and clicking on “Academic Coaching – Get a Coach.”
