From January 1-5, business students from across McCombs traveled to New York City for the 2014 New York Company Field Trip. The New York CFT is one of three annual trips hosted by the Company Field Trip Committee in UBC. On January 2nd students visited JP Morgan Chase, Greenhill, Evercore, and RBC Capital Markets. Each bank prepared a presentation and a panel of analysts, associates, and recruiters to answer any questions that students had. Students also gained detailed first hand knowledge of what it is like working for each company, including information about company culture and various opportunities there. In the evening a Texas-Exes Alumni Networking dinner was held at John’s Pizzeria in Times Square. Alumni from a variety of different top banks and financial institutions attended the dinner. The following day, January 3rd, students visited Bloomberg and Google. These visits included an information session of sorts and a tour of their world-class facilities. Students then used the remainder of the trip to either network individually, or explore the city. Some traveled to the 9/11 memorial, while others saw Broadway shows or had dinner at one of many famous steakhouses across the city.
