MPA Legacy Campaign Committee- November 26 Deadline!

Preparation for the 2013 MPA Legacy Campaign is currently underway and we are now taking applications for the 2013 MPA Legacy Campaign Committee! A joint effort by the MPA Council and the McCombs Alumni Relations & Annual Giving Office, this first-annual MPA Legacy Campaign will help to establish a culture of student giving within McCombs. The Committee will provide a unique opportunity for you to be a leader in your class, and we invite each of you to apply.

Today, with public universities facing funding challenges and increased competition for the best and brightest faculty and students, the tradition of students giving back has become an important tradition.  These campaigns, led by students for students, are not only a sign of pride in collective achievement, but are also used by many ranking programs as a measure of student and alumni satisfaction. This is your opportunity to come together as a class and make a difference at McCombs.

If you would like to help lead a highly visible campaign that strengthens your class ties and encourages philanthropy to your alma mater, please respond to the following questions and e-mail your answers to Laura Welch at laura.welch@mccombs.utexas.edu by November 26, 2012.

1.    Why are you passionate about serving on the MPA Legacy committee?

2.    Do you have prior fundraising/creative design/leadership experience that will help you assist with this campaign?  If so, please list your experience.

3.    In your opinion, what is the importance of student-led support of McCombs?

Thank you,

Claire Williams, President, MPA Council
and
Keary Kinch, Director, Alumni Relations & Annual Giving

Extended International Student Advising Hours

Peak advising season for International Students is here, which means that we will be offering Extended International Student Walk-In Advising Hours, beginning  Friday, May 4th and running through Friday, May 18th.   If you know of a student who needs to come in for any reason, please don’t hesitate to pass this information on!

Please note:  Given the volume of students who come in at this time of year, we often have to stop adding names to the wait-list prior to the end of the advertised advising hours (this can frustrate students at times, but we want to ensure that everyone can be seen on a given day.  The student can always call 512-471-2477 to see if we are still taking names).  On Monday, May 21st, advising hours will revert back to the standard times advertised on our website at:  http://world.utexas.edu/isss/advising

*Scholar Advisors and the Health Insurance Advisor will continue to see individuals on an appointment-only basis.)
