Ernst & Young’s First Annual Beam Abroad Case Competition

Are you eager to compete and showcase your talents in the global accounting and business arena? If so, this competition is for you!

What: Ernst & Young’s first annual Beam Abroad Case Competition – a competition that challenges student teams to expand technical accounting skills and develop their global mindset.

Prizes: First round (on-campus): campus team winner will receive a $1,000 cash prize (divided amongst five team members). Second round (Southwest region): grand prize winner will receive $5,000 (divided amongst five team members) and a trip abroad! Members of the top performing team from each university will also be given preferential consideration for premier opportunities with Ernst & Young, including our Global Student Exchange Program, Emerging Leaders Summit and Program, and the National Accounting Researcher Residency program.

Join over 2000 other students from 46 colleges and universities, learn more about high-level accounting policy issues and compete for cash prizes at the local and national levels. Here’s your chance to put on your game face and team with your classmates to compete against over 2,000 students from 46 universities in the PwC xACT Case Competition!  You will have the opportunity to learn more about high-level accounting policy issues and compete for cash prizes at the local and national levels.

Deloitte Audit Case Study Competition
for 3rd-MPAs

Objectives of the Competition
The Deloitte Audit Case Study Competition emphasizes critical thinking analysis and oral communication skills.   To augment the development of those skills, student teams will analyze a case that requires some integration of financial accounting, managerial accounting and general business issues.

Competition Details
Approximately 30 UT Austin 3rd Year i-MPA students will be selected to participate in this year’s Audit Case Study Competition.  The selected students/teams will work with a Deloitte professional on a Deloitte Trueblood case.  Each team will work to identify issues and to develop a plan to research them, develop a solution, and prepare a presentation regarding their case.

Deloitte Audit Case Study Presentations- Friday, November 11

Awards
The winning team from The University of Texas at Austin will have the opportunity to compete with the first place teams from five other selected universities at the National Student Case Study Seminar at the all new Deloitte University in Westlake, Texas.  This will be an all-expense paid trip!  The National Seminar is planned for March 30 & 31.  At this seminar, you will be given the opportunity to both earn awards for yourself and The University of Texas at Austin.

University Awards:
1st Place- $10,000
2nd Place- $5,000
Remaining Universities-  $2,500 

Individual Awards:
1st Place- $2,000 (per student)
2nd Place- $1,000 (per student)
Remaining Participants- $500 (per student)

PwC xACT 2011 Case Competition

Business is the place where theory is executed real time, where decisions are made with consequences, communication is key, and collaborative, team-oriented thinking is a must. These are the conditions PwC seeks to create with our xACT campus competition. No number crunching exercise, xACT is focused on high-level issues designed to test and improve your decision making skills. Detailed accounting knowledge is not required to participate.

Each team must consist of 5 members: 2 Sophomores in their first accounting course or be an accounting major/minor, 1 Junior accounting major, 1 student in their first accounting course or accounting major/minor, and 1 additional member.
