When: Wednesday May 20, 4pm-5:30pm via The Gender and Sexuality Center at UT Austin’s Facebook live

Lavender Graduation is a special graduation ceremony that honors the achievements of graduating lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, and asexual students on campus.

Due to COVID-19, this year will be a little different, but nothing will stop us from celebrating with our seniors, who have been through so much in their time at UT. This year we are offering Lavender Graduation registrants care packages (which will include: your rainbow stole, a graduation certificate, info and swag from the Texas Exes Pride Alumni Network, a curated graduation playlist, special messages from deans/faculty/staff, a virtual cupcake to be redeemed at any future Lavender Graduation you are able to attend) and a Graduation Ceremony via the Gender and Sexuality Center’s Facebook live** on May 20th, 4-5:30pm where GSC staff will read the names of our outstanding grads!

**The Gender and Sexuality Center’s Facebook page is a public page which will allow you to watch the live stream even if you don’t have a Facebook account.

Students may Register here any time before May 20th. If they would like to receive a certificate with their name on it, they will need to register by May 1st.

Do you want to show your support even though you are not graduating? Students, staff, faculty, departments, and colleges are welcome to help make this a successful event by sharing our registration link! Below is a sample twitter/facebook/instagram post:

“Lavender Graduation is a celebration of LGBTQIA+ students at UT. This year, graduates will receive a care package & be celebrated in a virtual graduation ceremony! If interested, register for LavGrad here.”

Email us if you have questions or if you need accommodations at gsc@austin.utexas.edu.

Lavender Graduation is co-hosted by the Gender and Sexuality Center, the Texas Exes Pride Alumni Network, and a number of other campus partners. This year’s efforts are supported by 10 colleges and schools (including the McCombs School of Business!). Our goal is to demonstrate the success of our community members in a personal, entertaining, and celebratory way.
