The Accounting Education Foundation (AEF) of the Texas Society of CPAs is now accepting scholarship applications for the 2019-20 academic year.  The foundation will be awarding 50 scholarships of $2,500 each to students intending to earn the CPA credential.

Follow these steps to apply for the AEF scholarship:

  • Fill out the Accounting Scholarship Application online. Under “Acct. Dept. ChairPerson Email Address,” include Professor Clement’s email: Michael.Clement@mccombs.utexas.edu
  • Submit a current official transcript to: Accounting Education Foundation, 14651 Dallas Parkway, Suite 700, Dallas, Texas 75254-7408
  • Submit evidence that an Application of Intent to take the CPA Exam has been filed with the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy.  The evidence should be sent to: Accounting Education Foundation, 14651 Dallas Parkway, Suite 700, Dallas, Texas 75254-7408

The deadline for receiving applications and all supporting documents is Friday, October 11, 2019.  Awards will be made during the fall semester and will be sent to the school for disbursement to the student.

To be considered for an Accounting Education Foundation scholarship, the student must:

  • Attend an eligible college or university in Texas
  • Be an accounting major with the intent of becoming a Texas Certified Public Accountant and entering the accounting profession upon graduation. The student is expected to be enrolled as a full-time college student (at least 12 semester credit hours each semester for undergraduate students/at least 9 semester credit hours each semester for graduate students)
  • Have satisfactorily completed at least 110 semester credit hours of college-level courses by August 31, 2019 and graduate no earlier than spring 2020
  • Have completed 21 semester credit hours of accounting courses required of accounting majors with a grade of B or better in each course by August 31, 2019
  • Have an Accounting GPA of 3.6 or more on a 4.0 scale
  • File an Application of Intent to sit for the CPA Exam with the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy
