The University-wide Commencement Ceremony of The University of Texas at Austin is held each spring to mark the completion of another academic year in the life of the institution and to celebrate the cumulative accomplishment of a distinguished community of scholars as they transition from students to alumni. The 133rd Spring University-wide Commencement Ceremony will take place on Saturday, May 21, 2016. View the ceremony schedule here.

The ceremony takes place in front of the Tower and includes a distinguished speaker, conferring of degrees by the president and the traditional lighting of the Tower in orange to honor graduates. The celebration concludes with a fireworks display. Sara Martinez Tucker will deliver the keynote address.

Degree candidates participating in the university-wide commencement ceremony are required to present a ticket when lining up for the Grand Procession. Tickets are not required for guests attending the university-wide commencement ceremony. Seating for guests is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Tickets must be picked up in advance. Tickets are for degree candidates only and are free of charge. Tickets are not available by phone; they must be picked up in person by presenting a UT ID.
