Pease Park is one of Austin’s premier parks and serves as the primary green space for students at UT. It’s a space where people gather to enjoy recreation and respite from everyday stresses. As Austin continues to grow, it becomes increasingly important that the park system is able to adequately serve the community. In October 2014, the Austin City Council unanimously approved the Pease Park Master Plan, which sets out a comprehensive blueprint for long-term preservation, restoration, and enhancement of the park’s cultural, recreational, and natural features.

Pease Park Conservancy (PPC) is a 501(c)(3) committed to the rehabilitation, beautification, and support of Austin’s central city park for the enjoyment of current and future Austinites. Through the collection of private funds and volunteer workdays PPC has helped return the Park back to the state its founders had originally envisioned. PPC seeks a part-time Accounting & Development Associate to perform bookkeeping and accounting tasks. Duties include:

  • Producing general journal entries
  • Account reconciliations
  • Database research, implementation, and maintenance
  • Assisting with the creation of annual operating budget as well as project-specific budgets.
  • Working with PPC Treasurer to submit annual tax return
  • Occasionally assist with grant applications and donor outreach

Overview:
Compensation for the internship is $12 per hour and PPC will happily work with applicants to achieve course credit and encourage them to do so. Pease Park Conservancy asks for a commitment of 5-15 hours per week and will work with candidates to find hours that allow them to succeed with their academics.

Pease Park Conservancy offices are located at 30th and Lamar. This position provides the opportunity to network with and learn from members of the PPC board, city officials, and environmental leaders from across the City of Austin.

Interested applicants are asked to send their resume and a brief cover letter explaining their interest in the position and applicable experiences to Andy Gill at andrewgill@peasepark.org by January 22, 2016.
