Tax Interns Wanted for Spring 2016 Internship

Full-time paid internship with Maxwell Locke & Ritter LLP from approximately Mid-February to Mid-April 2016. The internship program objective is to provide a working experience for university students to learn about the public accounting profession, especially in the tax area. The program allows students to have hands-on experience during the busiest part of the year for tax professionals. The student should be able to determine if the education they have received in college can be transferred into practical experience in the business world.

The intern will be a member of the tax department of Central Texas’ largest locally-owned public accounting firm. The intern will prepare federal income tax returns and assist in various tax consulting projects. Intern will be exposed to client interaction opportunities. A tax associate will be assigned to mentor the intern. The tax partner and tax associates will assign work and supervise the intern.

The intern will receive training on computer programs and tax return procedures. After the initial introduction, the remaining training will be provided by a mentor as the intern needs additional assistance to complete projects.

The ideal tax intern will have:

  • MBA (accounting focus), BBA, PPA, or MPA with focus in tax
  • Applicants must have completed individual taxation, entity taxation, and tax research before the start of the internship program
