Tax Practicum

Who: Undergraduate (any major) and MPA students

What: The class is service learning based where students spend 55 hours volunteering in the community to fill out tax returns for low-income Austinites.  We partner with Foundations Communities (a local nonprofit) to provide this service through the VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) program.  Last year, our students provided approximately 10,000 volunteer hours and helped the clients receive approximately $35,000,000 in refunds.  Students do not have to have any experience with taxes to take the class because we provide 12 hours of training.

If students have any further questions, please contact Doug.DeVidal@mccombs.utexas.edu.
