Live and Learn

We all know what time of the year it is.  Here in the Business School we have come to accept that we practically have two rounds of finals; one during the last week of class and again during the campus- wide finals week. Now for most of us, this week not only includes exams, but the ever-dreaded group projects. 

You know the ones I am talking about.  The ones where the professor makes you well aware of it at the beginning of the year but no one ever puts considerable effort in until they realize it is due in two weeks and is worth  40 percent of your grade.  So now you and your group are in a mad panic to meet every day to pull something together at least halfway decent so you can hold onto that ‘A’ you had been working on. But the problem is everyone in your group has different schedules and obligations this week and it is an extreme inconvenience to meet for even 30 minutes and you are now forced to drag yourself into the Reliant Room at 11:00 p.m. because that is when everyone could meet.  Oh, got to love those group projects.

I really wish I knew the solution to this.  For me, it is like the question, “What is the meaning of life?”  I have no answer.  Now I know someone out there is thinking that this is my own fault and I should have started sooner. Yes, I know this. Thank you. But, if you have a more constructive idea for how we can all keep up with our full schedules as well as keeping on top of these large group projects that are never really discussed until the end, please feel free to share your strategy.

The best idea I have right now is to stop by CVS on my way to school and grab a 4-pack of energy drinks so that I am able to keep my eyes open for as long as possible as I plug away at all the work that is coming due.  I wish all of you the best of luck in this week of craziness. Take a deep breath, and tackle each day as they come. With only two weeks left, this is “The Final Countdown.”
