The Insurance Council of Texas Education Foundation has awarded $28,000 in academic scholarships to 14 students of insurance at three universities in the state.

The current situation looks bleak with some banks not lending to their customers or even to other banks. Businesses are having more difficulty in placing commercial paper. Monetary policy seems to be nearly exhausted.

A study authored by Patrick Brockett (IROM) and Linda Golden (Marketing) was named Most Outstanding Contribution to the Casualty Actuarial Society. Their paper, “Biological and Psychobehavioral Correlates of Credit Scores and Automobile Losses: Toward an Explication of Why Credit Scoring Works,” was published in 2007 in the Journal of Risk and Insurance.
