Philosophy
The McCombs TODAY News Blog exists to serve as a window to the newsworthy happenings of the McCombs School of Business. It’s a slice of McCombs life that shares our achievements, knowledge, strengths, voices and conversations with our readers.
Our goal is that by reading the McCombs TODAY blog, you will have a strong sense of what the McCombs world is all about and what we aspire to. If you inhabited the McCombs community for a few weeks, these are the stories you would share with people to explain your experience.
McCombs TODAY is not meant to be a school calendar, a record of events that have taken place, or an all-inclusive collection of McCombs-related items. Think scrapbook rather than file cabinet. Greatest Hits, not the entire catalog.
Content
McCombs TODAY is produced by the Communications staff and is generally updated three to five times per week. The blog contains prominent school news, faculty opinions, alumni and student profiles, research updates, event recaps, media hits, and honors and awards. Reflecting the interactive dialogues that take place in our classrooms, the blog is also a vehicle for opinion polls, online discussions, video clips and photo galleries.
Because this blog represents the entire school, we aim for stories that will appeal to multiple audiences. This may include alumni, faculty, staff, students, prospective students, donors and friends of the school. Any message that is narrowly segmented or concerns only one group is likely better suited for another communications outlet, such as the numerous program blogs and newsletters.
Readers may submit a story or news item for consideration, but the Communications staff will use editorial discretion to determine what is posted.
