Full-time MBA students Nicole Starling, Naruby Schlenker and Tony Laurel appear in the current issue of Hispanic Business magazine.
Hispanic Business magazine named McCombs the top business school for Hispanic MBA students for 2008 in its annual rankings. “The University of Texas at Austin’s close proximity and long standing relationship with Latin America creates an ideal atmosphere at the McCombs School of Business for Latinos and Hispanic Americans, who annually make up six to eight percent of the full-time MBA program,” the magazine states. The magazine also notes the active Hispanic student organizations, McCombs’ support of Hispanic student conferences, the Executive MBA in Mexico City and the more than 800 Latinos in the MBA Alumni Network.
“The multi-cultural learning environment at McCombs is conducive to myriad viewpoints,” says Eric Hirst, associate dean for graduate programs. “With our variety of student organizations, both professional and social, and unique classroom offerings we embrace diversity at every turn and view Latinos and Hispanic Americans as an integral, essential piece of each and every MBA class.”

Congrats! This is a well-deserved honor for the full-time MBA program’s strong efforts (and impressive results) in this important area.

As a Cuban-American pursuing a BBA at McCombs, I can say that this honor is extremely well deserved. When you take into consideration the home-away-from-home feeling of the school, the countless professional opportunities, and the continued excellence of such organizations as the Hispanic Business Student Association, McCombs is truly unrivaled!
