Ordinary Americans have a deepening mistrust of free-market capitalism as our nation has gone from Enron, WorldCom, Adelphia and Tyco to Bear Sterns, Freddie Mac, Fannie May and Lehman Brothers. Sadly, this mistrust is justified because too many corporate executives have adopted the creed of greed.

Pulitzer Prize Winner Stresses Ethical Taxation

Brockett, Golden Paper Wins Article of the Year

A study authored by Patrick Brockett (IROM) and Linda Golden (Marketing) was named Most Outstanding Contribution to the Casualty Actuarial Society. Their paper, “Biological and Psychobehavioral Correlates of Credit Scores and Automobile Losses: Toward an Explication of Why Credit Scoring Works,” was published in 2007 in the Journal of Risk and Insurance.

IROM’s Seshadri Wins Best Paper Award

IROM Professor Sridhar Seshadri won the 2008 INFORMS MSOM Best Paper Award. The paper is titled “Hedging Inventory Risk Through Market Instruments” and was chosen over 11 other nominated papers. Finance Professor Ehud Ronn returned from the 2008 Financial Services Institute Symposium, held Sept. 12 at St. John’s University, with the Best Paper Award.
