Jim Franklin is the new director of the Texas Master in Professional Accounting Program (MPA). Franklin, who started at McCombs June 23, earned a degree in economics from the Wharton School, and is a 1993 Texas MPA graduate…Sunhee Kim, MPA ’08, has been appointed by the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) as a technical associate. She will begin the prestigious two-year appointment at the IASB’s London office in October 2008….The McCombs chapter of the Association of Latino Professionals in Finance and Accounting (ALPFA) won the Regional Student Chapter of the Year Award and will be honored at the 2008 ALPFA National Convention in Phoenix August 13….The Eastside Community Connection, a nonprofit organization run by UT students that assists impoverished families in Austin, is currently recruiting volunteers. The nonprofit’s leaders say they would love to have more McCombs students volunteer to help distribute food, interview clients and help out around the office.
