Hello!! Welcome to my blog. Those that know me would be shocked that I am blogging. I don’t own a smartphone, just got back onto Facebook after several months hiatus and can barely understand Twitter. So why am I blogging and more importantly why should you keep reading?

One, I found reading blogs quite helpful during the application process. I could really get a sense of student communities and culture. Two, I come from a non-traditional B-School background and hope to assist those in a similar situation that are considering applying. And finally, I’ve been inspired by my incredible peers, phenomenal support teams and dynamic city of Austin (in just a few short weeks!)  that I wanted to share the experience.

I grew up in Los Angeles – yes, the actual city – and most recently called San Francisco and the Bay Area home. Right out of undergrad I worked for an international shipping company in a rotational development program. This adventure had me living in New Jersey, Atlanta and Oakland. I then switched careers and most recently worked for the University of California in Student Services and HR. Post MBA I want to stay in Higher Education Admin and bring some of those business savvy skills into a traditionally less structured environment.

Outside of school you can find me running around the lake or baking some delicious cookies. I also volunteer with the after-school program Girls on the Run. I plan on taking full advantage of all the outdoor activities and mild weather here in Austin!

Please feel free to reach out to me at Shelby.Chin@mba14.mccombs.utexas.[email protected] if you have any questions, comments or want to teach me a bit about social media.
