Undergrad Institution: University of Connecticut
Pre-MBA Job: Greenwich Associates, Institutional Financial Services Consulting
Concentration: Finance
Hi, I’m Ryan - a first year student at McCombs. I grew up in Houston, but I did my undergrad study at the University of Connecticut and graduated with a finance degree. After graduating from UConn, I spent seven years at Greenwich Associates - five in Greenwich, CT and two in London, England.
At McCombs, I am concentrating in Finance and plan to pursue a career in Investment Banking. I keep myself busy outside of class as a Co-Chair for Explore McCombs, our diversity weekend for students interested in McCombs. I’m also a member of the McCombs Admissions Committee, the Graduate Finance Association, Black Graduate Business Association, MBA Soccer, MBA Golf, and Graduate Wine Club, just to name a few.
As you can see I love sports, people and fun. McCombs is facilitating all these things for me. It’s a shame that classes have to get in the way… ![]()

Ryan,
I have found your blog entries to be quite informative and humorous. I am attending Explore Mc Combs in November and I look forward to meeting you. I am quite sure there are even more stories that you can share about your time in Austin and at Mc Combs.
Take care and continue with the great insight!

Ryan-
Like you, I have a BBA in Finance, and I’ve been working in the corporate banking arena in Houston for four years. I’d be interested in knowing how you’re approaching the first year at McCombs with respect to the core classes….you’ve obviously been exposed to finc/acct/marketing/ops management in undergrad, but are you getting more concept-based knowledge in these classes at McCombs currently? Are you going to be a part of some ‘hands-on’ learning opportunities, such as the Finance Challenge?
Thanks,
J
