Thanks for checking out the Texas MBA Student Blogs!

My name is Morgan Brown, and I’m a second year at McCombs. After graduating from Dartmouth, I worked in CPG consulting in Connecticut for a small consulting firm called Cannondale Associates where I used marketing analytics to help manufacturers of consumer goods better position their products to retailers.

While my job was great, it was really narrowly focused on sales and marketing. I knew that someday I’d like to start my own business and would need to get a better idea of how all aspects of a business work together. Business school seemed like a great way to do that, and McCombs was always near the top of my list because of the entrepreneurial pulse of the city that drives the energy of the program. The great weather (it’s been in the 70s in January), strong sports teams (although not football this year), and cool Austin vibe didn’t hurt either.

Now, as the Entrepreneur Society President and VP for the Technology Group, I’m getting to experience firsthand all that the great startup community here in Austin has to offer. At the same time, I’m getting to participate in lots of great “networking” events like our MBA Soccer tournament (we hosted 24 schools last year) and the Golf and Wine Clubs.

I’m happy to answer any questions about what the entrepreneurial experience is like here, as well as any general questions. Don’t hesitate to email me directly at morgan.brown@mba12.mccombs.utexas.edu, or comment here or on any of my blog posts.

Hook’em!
Morgan
