International Exposure: South Africa

Hey everyone,

I’m back for my last semester.  This semester I’m taking a different approach though.  Instead of staying in Austin and reconnecting with classmates like before, I decided to study abroad.

Why?

1. There’s nothing like being in another country.  You get to learn about a different culture, meet new people, and explore a bit too.

2. Part of the McCombs experience is gaining international exposure.  This can be done through Global Connections, certain classes with global topics, a double degree, or participating in an exchange program.  The most popular option is Global Connections, where students study a region and then go there for a couple weeks to see it first hand.

All options are beneficial, but I chose an exchange program so I can spend more time abroad.  I just arrived a week and a half ago in Johannesburg, South Africa to study at Wits Business School.

Why South Africa?

1. It’s one of the developing countries in the world, and the economic center of Africa.

2. I have a personal interest in learning more about the continent of Africa.  My family is from Ghana and I have only been there once.  This would give me an opportunity to experience southern Africa.
