TEST SCORE WAIVERS
Added April 15, 2020; Updated August 20, 2020

We understand that many people are experiencing hardships due to the COVID-19 pandemic and that these challenges may be affecting your ability to take an exam. Due to the unprecedented circumstances, we are providing applicants who are unable to take an exam in person or online the opportunity to petition for a test score waiver.

If you are still able to take an exam, we strongly encourage you to do so. GMAC and ETS have introduced remote testing options for the GMATGREEA, and TOEFL exams for candidates impacted by coronavirus.

ONLY applicants who meet both of the criteria below have the opportunity to petition for a special test waiver:

  • You are unable to take an exam in-person at a designated testing center due to lack of availability in your region, or because you or someone in your household is immunocompromised, AND
  • You are unable to take an exam online due to lack of availability in your region, technology or other test-taking requirements (e.g. device availability or compatibility, slow internet connection, testing environment)

If you do not meet both of these criteria, we require that you complete the standardized tests prior to submitting your application.  If would like to request a test score waiver, please contact MBA Admissions to receive a link to the petition and tlearn more about the test exception process The test waiver petition must be approved by the admissions committee before you submit your application to McCombs. The admissions committee may take up to five business days to review your petition, so please complete the petition 10-15 days prior to your planned application submission date.

The COVID-19 test waiver is NOT available to applicants who have already sent official GMAT, GRE, EA, TOEFL, or IELTS scores to Texas McCombs. Once an official score has been sent to Texas McCombs, it becomes a part of your submitted application record and cannot be removed.

Please note that all admissions and scholarship decisions are based on a longstanding holistic review process that takes into account your entire application and serves to assess the overall strength of your candidacy, including readiness for academic rigor, career goals, leadership potential, and fit with our program culture. Test scores, among other application components, are used as a predictor of success in the MBA classroom. We encourage you to self-evaluate your application strengths and areas that could be considered weaknesses by the admissions committee, and find ways to put forward your strongest application, regardless of whether or not you are granted a test score waiver.

TESTING CENTERS AND REMOTE TESTING OPTIONS
Updated February 9, 2021

If you are able to take an exam, we strongly encourage you to do so. GMAC and ETS have introduced remote testing options for the GMAT, GRE, EA, and TOEFL exams for candidates impacted by coronavirus.

GMAT™
As of April 15, 2020 registration is open for the GMAT™ Online exam, an interim, alternative to the test center GMAT™ exam. Exam appointment dates are available beginning April 20, 2020 and extend through December 31, 2020. To increase flexibility, appointment times are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The GMAT™ Online exam is available in most locations, with the exception of: Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Sudan and Slovenia due to regulatory and local data privacy rules. Read more about the GMAT Online exam on the GMAC website.

GRE®
As of April 2, 2020, the GRE® General Test at Home is available everywhere that the computer-delivered GRE General Test is normally available, with the exception of Mainland China and Iran. Find more details on the GRE Test at Home webpage.

Executive Assessment
GMAC plans to open registration for the Interim Online Executive Assessment, an online proctored alternative to the Executive Assessment, at the end of April. The alternative interim test will be available in impacted markets, outside of mainland China. More information can be found on GMAC’s Update on Coronavirus webpage.
