On October 7, 2010 The University of Texas at Austin Tower was lit burnt orange for the Texas MBA Energy Finance Team, following their first place finish at the Sixth Annual National Energy Finance Challenge. The National Energy Finance Challenge is an MBA business case competition that focuses on real-world finance issues specific to the energy industry.
Our team brought home an overwhelming victory over Harvard, Yale, Wharton, UNC, Virginia-Darden, Columbia, NYU-Stern, Carnegie-Mellon, MIT, Chicago, Cornell, Purdue, Michigan, Berkeley and Duke. Teams from the Tepper School of Business at Carnegie Mellon University and NYU’s Stern School of Business tied for second place, and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania took fourth. Sixteen teams participated in the challenge.
Chevron wrote the 2010 case on an international shale gas development and commercialization project. The event was held September 30-October 1 at the AT&T Executive Education and Conference Center on The University of Texas at Austin campus.
This year’s sponsors included Bank of America, Chevron Corporation, El Paso Corporation, Merrill Lynch Commodities and the McCombs School’s Energy Management and Innovation Center.
Congratulations to our McCombs Energy Finance team!
