Entrepreneurship Live with Alan Blake
Tuesday, March 25, 2014
6:00 – 7:00 p.m., with reception to follow

Alan Blake is the CEO and Co-Founder of Yorktown Technologies, LP. Under his leadership, the company was able to commercialize GloFish fluorescent fish, the first mass-marketed biotech animal. Within the first decade, the GloFish family grew to nearly a dozen lines of fish that include six different colors and three species. The fish, as well as more than 70 GloFish-branded aquarium products, are now available in over 7,000 retail locations. Hear Alan discuss their story of success.

Workshop on Social and Business Analytics
Friday, March 28, 2014
8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., followed by a networking dinner and reception

Join the McCombs School of Business and the Herb Kelleher Center for Entrepreneurship as they bring together practitioners and academics to better understand social and data analytic strategies, and to capture insights for improved managerial action. Leaders in the field will share insights and experiences on: using social media to know customers, using social and mobile platforms for advertising, understanding value of social media for marketing and customer engagement, and analyzing “big data” for decision making.

Organizations in attendance will include: Frito-Lay, Deloitte, Whole Foods Market, NYU Stern, and Harvard Business School.

Entrepreneurship Live with Matt Chasen

Matt Chasen is the CEO and Founder of uShip. The company’s mission is to create the most efficient and user-friendly marketplace for shipping that has ever existed. uShip has become a global online transport platform that leverages Internet and mobile technologies to connect customer freight with available trucks and space. Prior to founding uShip, Matt spent several years in engineering at Boeing, where he helped research, test and develop in-flight wireless Internet access, and also led the avionics integration for a new F-22 fighter aircraft.

McCombs hosts 9th Annual Alumni Business Conference

On Friday, February 21, the McCombs School of Business Alumni Network will be hosting its 9th Annual Alumni Business Conference. This conference is an annual gathering of McCombs alumni to discuss current pressing business issues, share new ideas, and reconnect with fellow cohorts and colleagues.

The speakers and presenters at this year’s conference are all recognized as leaders in their fields. They include:

On Wednesday, October 30, Texas Executive Education is hosting a Finding Creative Solutions to Complex Problems session, led by Dr. Gaylen Paulson, followed by a Networking Reception with Executive MBA professionals from Portugal’s University of Porto, Porto School of Business.

This is a unique opportunity to meet with a group of your international peers, representing variety of industries including telecom/IT, manufacturing, consumer goods and pharmaceuticals. The group of 69 executives will be here from October 28 through November 1 for a week-long International Seminar titled Leading in a Global World, hosted by Texas Executive Education at The University of Texas at Austin.

Attend the McCombs Economic Forecast 2014 Panel

McCombs Economic Forecast 2014You are invited to attend an upcoming panel discussion in which Austin-based CEOs and industry experts will discuss their projections and insights of next year’s economic outlook. The event will be held from 7:30 to 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 3rd, in the AT&T Executive Education and Conference Center, located at 1900 University Ave. on The University of Texas at Austin campus.

The distinguished panelists are from software, hardware and life sciences companies in the Austin area. They include:
